It’s National Soil Health Day!

Acres U.S.A. is proud to present the third Annual National Soil Health Day!

National Soil Health Day started in 2019 after our community recognized a 2008 bi-partisan resolution to celebrate soil health and soil health professionals had led to little action and change. Acres U.S.A. is working to take this resolution to a local level and to foster positive action to protect our soil and education on the importance of sound soil management.

In honor of National Soil Health Day, we are asking individuals, businesses, organizations and government officials to sign the resolution to pledge their support of soil health and soil health professionals. The full resolution and more background information on National Soil Health Day can be found here. Signees are encouraged to sign online below or to print out and mail-in their resolution for soil health to Acres U.S.A., PO Box 1690, Greeley, CO 80632.

Since 2019, over 1.3 million people have shared the message of soil health across social media. This year, we were so pleased to have some of members of the community participate in our “How I Celebrate Soil Health” photo contest, whose entries will be featured in the August 2021 issue of the Acres U.S.A. magazine. We’re thrilled to declare Kate Adams of Nurtured Lands Farm the winner of this contest. You can see her winning photo below, and be sure to check out the other incredible entries here!

“In addition to being pesticide and herbicide free, we support soil health by using rotational grazing practices with our animals. After the cattle move across the pasture we follow them with the chickens.” -Kate Adams

As with every other year, we also want to take a moment to thank all the incredible people who have supported our resolution, shared the message, and practiced soil health in all capacities! You can find a full list of the individuals and companies here.
