The State of Colorado Department of Agriculture on Tuesday, June 23, 2020, announced it is in the final steps of launching a statewide soil health program to produce real incentives for farmers, growers and ranchers across the state.

We firmly believe in the program’s mission, which in part states: “Economically, supporting agricultural practices that benefit greater soil function will help position agricultural producers to participate in … markets where they may be compensated for the environmental benefits …”

Acres U.S.A., based in Greeley, Colorado, founded National Soil Health Day in 2019, and worked within a broad coalition to discuss the complexities of launching and starting a program, especially in a state where soil health programs vary from industry to industry.

The final input is needed from Colorado residents on the program, which they can do here.
