We are thrilled to announce a pair of fantastic keynote speakers for the 2022 Eco-Ag Conference & Trade Show, coming up on Dec. 5-8 in Covington, Kentucky.
David Montgomery and Anne Biklé have been researching the critical connection between on-farm practices, soil health and ultimately human nutrition. In the past year – with a new book and a peer-reviewed article – their work has been pivotal in advancing an understanding of this beneficial relationship between soil health and human health and they will share their trailblazing insights with us at this year’s Eco-Ag Conference.
David R. Montgomery
David Montgomery is a MacArthur Fellow and professor of geomorphology at the University of Washington. He is an internationally recognized geologist who studies landscape evolution and the effects of geological processes on ecological systems and human societies. An author of award-winning popular-science books, he has been featured in documentary films, network and cable news, and on a wide variety of TV and radio programs, including NOVA, PBS NewsHour, Fox and Friends, and All Things Considered. His books have been translated into nine languages. He lives in Seattle, with his wife Anne Biklé and their black lab guide-dog dropout Loki.
Anne Biklé is a biologist, science writer, and public speaker. She explores connections between the health of the land and people. Anne co-authored The Hidden Half of Nature: The Microbial Roots of Life and Health with her husband, David Montgomery. The second book of the Dirt Trilogy, it tells the story of humanity’s tangled relationship with the microbial world in agriculture and medicine. Anne has a bad case of plant lust and uses soil to coax plants into rambunctious growth or nurse them back from the edge of death. Her gardening practices have been featured in independent and documentary films and her work has appeared in magazines, newspapers, and radio.
Both Anne and David taught sessions at the 2019 Eco-Ag Conference & Trade Show in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
