The Biochar Solution

Albert Bates

$19.99

Foreword by Vandana Shiva.

Conventional agriculture has degraded soil carbon by as much as 80 percent in most of the world's breadbaskets. The solution to this and other environmental ills is biochar. Biochar is created by burning biomass in the absence of oxygen and has the unique ability to withhold carbon from the atmosphere while simultaneously building soil fertility. Author Albert Bates analyzes our global climate and food predicament and offers techniques for the production and use of biochar and practical carbon farming -- a new agricultural paradigm with a priority on ecological restoration that could turn us back into a garden planet.

An Irish farmers review of The Biochar Solution.

This was a well written book with some very interesting pieces of history related to the main subject. The book was well divided in to relevant chapters which added depth and showed the level of thought and effort which went in to the book. I was disappointed with the quality of the paper used , which took from the illustrations and in a way reduced the impact on the reader. A good but frightening read & deserves a place in all policy makers intray !!
